A nice example of a Verithin with an interesting provenance.
I quote from a message left in my guest book, by Doug .
"I inherited my father's Verithin (s/n 579) which I understand was bought new circa 1961 and was used regularly ever since."
One of the tuners has been swopped out and it needs a new teacup knob

1961 HOFNER VERITHIN

A Verithin fitted with a rectangular control consul, and a non factory fit Bigsby tremelo.
The guitar is fitted with the Type 510 pickups, and is finished in typical cherry-red.
Pot codes 201.

A nice story goes with the guitar.
My Uncle Paddy last week sold me his beloved Hofner Verithin that he'd owned for the last 50 years and had been promising to leave to me in his will (eventually). He is 69 now and decided the time had come, not for him to pass on but for the guitar to be passed on !

The guitar is now having a refurbish, so more pics to come.

There is a lovely '60s HP payment book included in the photos, 12/6 a week in 1961!

1961 HOFNER VERITHIN

This one has had a lot of stuff done to it over the years.

An extra pup, sundry switches and a non standard pick guard.
There is also a hole in the back, presumably to get at the variety of switches.

Here's the note from the owner

I have a Verithin that looks a little modified to any I've found on the site. It has serial number 690. It was purchased at Hessy's in Liverpool in the early 60's (same shop the Beatles often bought their gear from) I had it as a birthday gift from a friend of my late fathers... back in 1972, who played in some Merseybeat groups - but not any of the famous ones :-( It has been much used and sadly abused. Knobs are not all original 2 switches are broken. The pick ups work (though one is not connected because of broken switch) The middle pick up is a 'Burns Trisonic' (and kicks out quite a tone) The tremelo arm is not the usual Bigsby but manufactured by Guild.
