1960 Verithins

Where it all started

Hofner's answer to the Gibson 335!
Twin body cutaways and a "very thin" body, only 1.25" or 30mm
Introduced in 1960 with Venetian cutaways.
Most were finished in a rich cherry-red lacquer, however, the very first examples had either a russet mahogany or blonde finish.

1960 HOFNER VERITHIN

A lovely example of the first version of the Verithin, with a cherry red finish, the rectangular control console, and "toaster" pickups.
The
Bigsby tremelo may have been fitted later, it's not mentioned on the label, but on these early guitars, who knows.
The pot dates are both 260 [week 26 1960].
This guitar also has a body date stamp:
28. Okt. 1960
There is also a fig. 5 above the date stamp.
